NWU hosted the MDS Orientation Program Spring-2026

An orientation program for the MDS (Master of Development Studies) Program of the Department of Development Studies was held at North Western University for the Spring 2026 semester. The program took place on Friday (30 January) at 11:00 a.m. in the universitys administrative building.

The program was graced by the presence of the Vice-Chancellor (In Charge) of the University, Professor Kanai Lal Sarkar, as the chief guest. Also present were the Registrar, Dr. Sheikh Shafikur Rahman; the Head of the Department of Development Studies and Proctor, Shakil Ahmed; the Head of the Department of Economics, Tanbir Hossain; along with newly admitted students, faculty members, officers, and staff.

Later, the guests formally welcomed the newly admitted students of the Master of Development Studies Program (Spring 2026) by presenting them with flower bouquets. While encouraging the new students, the speakers stated that this postgraduate program provides both theoretical and practical knowledge on sustainable development, poverty alleviation, gender inequality, and policymaking. The program primarily aims to develop professional skills for careers in NGOs, the government and private sectors, and international organizations such as the United Nations and the World Bank.

Since its inception, the MDS program has been playing a significant role in developing skilled human resources in the southern region as well as across Bangladesh.
