Orientation Training Program for Newly Appointed Faculty Members Held at NWU

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of North Western University organized a day-long training program titled Comprehensive Training Program on Faculty Induction, Academic Governance and Quality Assurance on Tuesday afternoon, February 24, 2026, at Building-2 of the university campus at Tetultala Mor, Khulna. The program was conducted in a well-organized, disciplined, and refined environment.

Arranged for newly appointed faculty members of the Spring 2026 semester, the primary objective of the training was to provide a comprehensive and institutional guideline on academic administration, governance structure, quality assurance, teaching methodologies, assessment systems, research policies, and professional development.

The resource persons of the program included Dr. Md. Inzamam-Ul-Hossain (Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology), Md. Mehedi Hasan (Chairman, Department of Computer Science and Engineering), M. Raihan (Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering), and Md. Anisur Rahman (Director, IQAC). The program was moderated by Md. Mehedi Hasan (Additional Director, IQAC).

In addition, valuable guidance and participation were provided in different sessions by Hasibul Hossain Suman (Dean, Faculty of Law), M. Asaduzzaman (Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering), Md. Arifuzzaman (Chairman, Department of Public Health), and Ashraf Hossain Sanvi (Chairman, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering).

The training program was divided into four sessions covering detailed discussions on the universitys vision and mission, strategic planning, the roles of the Academic Council and Syndicate, UGC policies, IQAC activities, Self-Assessment Report (SAR) preparation, accreditation processes, modern teaching strategies, question setting and assessment methods, research ethics, plagiarism policies, promotion and KPI structures, among others.

The active participation and forward-looking guidance of the respective Deans, Director and Additional Director (IQAC), and Department Heads made the program highly effective and timely. The participating newly appointed faculty members gained clear and practical insights into the universitys administrative structure, quality culture, academic responsibilities, and research policies.

It is expected that this training program will play a significant role in fostering a strong quality culture within the university, while enhancing faculty members professional competence, academic accountability, and research-oriented mindset. It is also anticipated to positively contribute to achieving national and international accreditation and overall institutional development in the future.

In the closing session, the Director and Additional Director of IQAC expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the university to all concerned Deans, Department Heads, and resource persons, and wished the newly appointed faculty members success in their future academic careers. Certificates were later distributed among the participating faculty members.
