Training Workshop on "Smart Admission Counseling Practices for Universities" Held at NWU

Organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of North Western University, a successful training workshop titled "Smart Admission Counseling Practices for Universities" was held with the aim of making the university's admission process more modern, informative, and student-friendly. The training workshop took place on Thursday (21 May) from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the university's administrative building located at Sonadanga Crossing in Khulna city. Organized to enhance the skills of the university's admission counselors, improve effective communication strategies, and upgrade the quality of student services, this workshop was highly timely and productive.
The event was attended by Professor Kanai Lal Sarkar, Vice-Chancellor (Acting); Dr. Sheikh Shafiqur Rahman, Registrar; Farzana Akhter, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies; Inzamam-Ul-Hosain, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology; Sheikh Mahrufur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Social Science; and Hasibul Sohain Suman, Dean, Faculty of Law.
During the workshop, the heads of various university departments delivered detailed PowerPoint presentations highlighting their respective curricula, research initiatives, laboratory facilities, career prospects, and existing opportunities for students. Through this, the admission counselors gained a comprehensive understanding of the universitys academic and administrative structure, which will play a crucial role in providing proper guidance to prospective students in the future.
Participants in the training workshop gained practical insights into effective communication with students and parents, information-based counseling, the utilization of digital platforms, presenting the university's brand image, and modern strategies for attracting students. Speakers noted that in today's competitive higher education landscape, skilled and well-trained Admission Counselors play a vital role in enhancing a university's reputation and attracting meritorious students.
The guests present at the event described the workshop as a significant step toward ensuring quality education and increasing the administrative capacity of the university. They expressed hope that such initiatives would make the universitys future admission operations more dynamic, transparent, and student-centered.
