NWU Observed Private University Resistance Day-2026

A discussion meeting and prayer gathering were held at North Western University to observe Private University Resistance Day-2026.

The event was held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 18, at the Administrative Building of North Western University, located at Sonadanga Mor in Khulna city.

Kanai Lal Sarker, Acting Vice-Chancellor of North Western University, delivered the keynote speech as the chief guest at the discussion meeting. Other speakers included Syed Hafizur Rahman, Member of the Board of Trustees of North Western University; Sheikh Mahrafur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences; Dr. Sheikh Shafiquur Rahman, Registrar; and Shakeel Ahmed, Proctor of the University.

In their speeches, the speakers highlighted the significance of observing July 18 as Private University Resistance Day. They paid deep tribute to all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Uprising and solemnly remembered those who were injured during the movement.

Among those present at the event were Farzana Akter, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies; Sheikh Maksudur Rahman, Assistant Registrar; Assistant Proctors; Heads of Departments; Heads of various offices; teachers, students, officers, and employees of the University.

Following the discussion, a special prayer was offered seeking the eternal peace and forgiveness of the souls of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Uprising. Prayers were also offered for the well-being and recovery of the injured July fighters.

The prayer was led by Mawlana Anisuzzaman, Imam and Khatib of Saniyat-ul-Bida Jame Mosque, Khulna.
