My heartiest welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering, one of the prominent departments of North Western University (NWU), Khulna, Bangladesh that launched its undergraduate program of B.Sc. in Civil Engineering on 2013 with a dream and a vision of meeting the challenge of the 20th century. Today the department relishes a robust reputation for undergraduate education, civil engineering research, and social services. The department is consistently ranked as one of the finest civil engineering schools in southern part of Bangladesh.

The department is offering Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Civil Engineering under the faculty of Science and Technology having a duration of 4 years. The department has a good number of regular faculties who are sincerely working with a unique vision for the development of the department having an outstanding academic background from distinguished public engineering universities (KUET, RUET).

The purposes of the establishment of the Department of Civil Engineering are in line with the vision of NWU to become a model university of internationally acknowledged stature, and excellence in teaching, research and scholarship. Additionally, our academic program and learning environment have been designed to contribute to the quality and knowledgeable improvement of the students. Successful Civil Engineering graduates are creative, good communicators and skilled at solving problems and delivering results. With these potentials our graduates not only develop careers as high quality professional engineers, but are also pursued by top companies for their potential in management, finance, consulting and other senior professional positions. The department has a good number of regular faculties who are sincerely working with a unique vision for the development of the department.

Commitments coming from our faculty and their passion for academic distinction are always regarded as the driving soul behind our attainment. A number of adjunct faculties from different renowned public universities (Mainly KUET & KU) and professionals with a strong reputation and field level proficiency have associated with us to reinforce our ability to impart value based education. We look forward to uninterrupted apprising of our students with the up-to-date advances in technology.

The faculty members of this department are involved in various research endeavors. Through their research and teaching, the faculty members of the department are educating the next generation of civil engineers to be the leaders of a profession that demands assurance of high quality in building the infrastructure of our future.

Many of the graduates are currently working in different government and private organizations in Bangladesh. A considerable graduates are also working abroad. Some graduates are doing masters and PhD in Bangladesh and abroad.

Recently, the department has undertaken an initiative to provide education to our students through the Outcome-Based-Education (OBE) method. In this perspective, faculty members have been taking training on OBE to provide effective lectures in the classroom and help making the country proud producing quality Civil Engineers in national and international arena.
